Then and Now.

If you would have told me one year ago that today I would be but 90 days from my wedding...

If you would have told me two months ago that I would be a soccer coach...

If you would have told me three months ago that I would be the future step-mom of two high school boys...

If you would have told me ... I'd have said you were crazy.

But, if you were to ask me now if I'd change anything at all, I'd strongly reply 'no. never.'

Life has taken me down a path, on an adventure, I would never have imagined. But, I guess that's probably why it's so amazing. This is far greater than anything I had ever imagined.

I cannot wait for 90 days. To say I do. To be Mrs. Barnes. To live with three amazing men who challenge me to be a better, kinder, more patient person.

I can't wait!

Love is a many splendid thing.

I still can't believe that I am getting married in less than five months. What?! Yet, the planning has begun, and there is no turning back. Mark and I now have both the ceremony and reception locations booked. I have my dress. (It's BEAUTIFUL!!!) Basically, the hard work is done. And, it's only been two weeks! Yay!

It's been so very interesting, however, this process of telling people we are engaged. There are a few different responses to this news. First, most people are, well, shocked. There is this look of "wait, did I just hear that right?" then the half-hearted congratulations. Awesome. Then there are those who saw it coming but are still a bit wary. They tend to ask a lot of detailed questions. When is the wedding? Have you found your dress? Finally, there are the select, and I mean very select, few who are sincerely happy for us and offer their sincerest congratulations. For example, a co-worker of mine practically knocked me over the other day at work. I haven't seen her in weeks and she was so very excited to hear that Mark and I are getting married. Yay! I wish everyone's response were like that. It would make things a lot easier.

I guess I'm just tired of having to prove my love for Mark. I'm tired of justifying our relationship...explaining that, yes, there is a significant age difference between us, but we are STILL in love. Mark has very quickly become my best friend. He gets me. He can read my facial expressions and finish my sentences. He knows how to snap me out of my moods. He listens to me vent and then always offers practical advice or encouragment. He continually encourages me to be a better person, to look at things differently, to step out of my comfort zone. He is, I suppose, the yin to my yang! :) And for these reasons and more, I have fallen head over heels for Mark. And, I understand that people are worried-that they have their doubts. But, we're engaged now. I wish that they could be happy for us. I'm done explaining, justifying, proving, etc... Please let me be excited and enjoy this time, just like you would for anyone else.

So, there's my rant! I'm so grateful, however, for my oh-so amazing friends! Your support is so appreciated, trust me! I love you, guys!!

140 days. I can't wait!
